On the basis of SKOR’s wish to develop collaborations between artists and scientists, artists Jurgen Bey, Ronald Cornelissen and Gabriël Lester were asked to design a ‘blob’ in collaboration with students from the Technical University in Eindhoven. The goal was to investigate whether it was possible to use recently developed computer technology to create ‘liquid architecture’. These ‘blobs’ should be suitable spaces for working in, where collaborative projects in the field of art and technology can be developed. A jury of artists, architects and technicians chose Jurgen Bey’s proposal for further elaboration.
Jurgen Bey’s exhibition pavilion has been built according to the so-called ‘Blowing-structure’ method. For more information about this revolutionary technology and about the process of realising the pavilion see www.blob.tue.nl.
