client: Atelier HSL
In 2004 Atelier HSL awarded Bertien van Manen, Jannes Linders and Bas Princen a photography commission. Bertien van Manen photographed the confrontation between the human environment and the construction of the HSL-South. Jannes Linders depicted the HSL-South’s technological constructions and milestones, and Bas Princen concentrated on the landscape that had been excavated for laying the HSL-South and which was temporarily being used for unusual ends. Three new photographers were approached for a commission in 2002: Frank van der Salm (NL), Elger Esser (D) and Jem Southam (UK).
