Busy, busy, busy! is an expression you often hear when you ask someone how they’re doing. Being busy has a certain status - imagine having nothing to do. Being busy is not only a condition resulting from a hectic life, it is also a strategy that is the mainstay of society. The work that Jeanne van Heeswijk and Rolf Engelen were commissioned by SKOR to design for the Inkijk takes notice of this fact and adds a little extra. The style of the little Inkijk building contrasts with today’s haste; the quality of the design, the durability of the material and the attention to detail demonstrate that it was not so long ago that one took ample time to build. Some of the old black baked roofing tiles have been temporarily replaced by new tiles which have been glazed white in the authentic manner. The artists have employed an old technique in order to send their message out into the world.
