Reflection and information
Through its provision of documentation and publications and its organization of exhibitions, lectures, symposia and excursions, SKOR aims to stimulate the supply of information in the area of art and the public domain while encouraging a discussion. In this scenario, commissioned art is not viewed as an isolated phenomenon but, rather as part of the large-scale artistic and socio-cultural developments. Indeed, the fundamental changes that our public domain is subject to, make the consistent study of the implications of these changes a necessity. For example, the interaction between the art work, the commissioning body, the location and the spectator is discussed from a variety of perspectives in Open, cahier voor kunst en het publieke domein (journal for art and the public domain).
Open, cahier voor kunst en het publieke domein
Open is a cahier that reflects upon the contemporary public space from a cultural perspective. Through a thematic investigation of the changing conditions of the public space and through new ideas relating to this space, Open aims to make a structural contribution to the development of theories about these subjects and to function as a platform for reflection on socio-cultural and artistic practice.
